5 iPhone App Development Tutorials/Resources

So you want to get into iPhone development?

There are tons of great resources sitting out on the web right now.  Here are some of my favorites resources and tutorials on iPhone application development:

Apple iOS Dev Center

Apple provides the best, obviously, resources for iPhone App development.  There are many resources that are free and available for anyone to use.

You can check out the iOS Dev Center to get set up, and follow up by checking out some courses on iTunes U on Developing Apps for iOS.

No matter what you do in iOS development, you’ll need to get acquainted with the iOS Dev Center.

MIT: introduction to iPhone Application Development

MIT puts a ton of their courses online, and you can check out the one-week course on iPhone SDK development.

How to Create A Simple iPhone App Tutorial

A complete tutorial on creating your first iPhone App.  The site covers most basic aspects of iPhone development including:

• Getting Started
• Storing app data in a Model
• Table Views
• How to create a view of a row
• Handling vertical and horizontal layouts
• Navigation Controllers
• Implementing an image selector
• Common controls like the text field, image view and buttons
• Icons
• Long Running operations

I highly recommend following this tutorial as it will get you on your way to being a full iOS app developer.

An Absolute Beginner’s Guide to iPhone Development

If the previous tutorial was a bit “tech” heavy for you, this one will be more your style.  It gets you involved from the start.  This tutorial will show you how to build the typical “Hello World” app.  It will give you a glimpse into the tools involved in iPhone app development.

After you complete this one, I recommend checking out the previous tutorial, How to Create a Simple iPhone App Tutorial.
