Earlier today I was able to download a new Twitter app on my iPhone, now the whole Twitter site is updated.
In case you haven’t seen the design yet, here are some new things:
- New nav bar (Home, Connect, and Discover)
- Tweets are on the right, and your other “data” are on the left (ohhhhhhh)
- Clicking on a tweet will pop up, as opposed to slide out on the right. I find this slightly annoying as it obscures other tweets.
- Brand Pages!
Part of the redesign includes brand pages. Think of it as Twitter’s version of the Facebook page.
All you social networking experts are gonna eat this up.
Check out the Disney Pixar twitter brand page. Nice eh?
With the brand page you have the ability to customize a large header image, have a larger logo (this may be universal), and have a more prominent tag line. The pages will also allow a “Promoted” tweet to be pinned at the top of the tweets list.
You’ll also see that mentions and replies are broken out, I assume to make it easier to control what’s on the home page.
For now the Brand Pages on Twitter are invite only, but I’m sure they will be available to the general public in a month or two, enough time to test out the feature.
