iPhone 4 Fix may have been revealed?
According to an article on TheStreet, Apple iPhone 4 Fix Revealed:
NEW YORK (TheStreet) – Apple(AAPL) has a “fix” for the iPhone 4 antenna problem after all. Now the problem becomes how the company will handle the replacement or repairs of the 3 million phones already sold.
Instead of defending its “there’s no problem” stanceanticipated at a special press conference Friday, Apple is likely to announce that it has a solution.
Apple has created “a design fix for the iPhone 4 that more adequately insulates the transceiver,” said Rodman Renshaw analyst Ashok Kumar, who spoke to the company’s manufacturing partners.
This would be great news, and make sense. As the article mentions, unfulfilled orders have been pushed out to 3 weeks, indicative of problems with the current supply.
If this goes through without a hitch (and I’ll be waiting for third party verification) — maybe it’s time to buy an iPhone finally.
I couldn’t imagine Apple suggesting that everyone gets a free iPhone cover to address the problem. An iPhone is a premium product, not meant to be covered / distorted. I’m sure designers have heart attacks when they know people will put cases on their beautiful devices, this would be even worse. An internal fix makes much more sense, and could help Apple retain the lost stock value (they’re down about 10% since their high about a month ago, that’s about $26 billion lost in valuation).
This is a crucial step for Apple, and I’m sure they’re thinking bout every step. A premium brand cannot produce poor quality products (we are paying too much for already questionable service on AT&T).
