Google Code: Did they break jQuery on some sites?
I was sitting around developing some code for a website yesterday (June 2, 2010) and my jQuery started to break. It was after I had taken a break, and knew it worked beforehand.
When I looked into the problem I saw that the Google Code loaded jQuery 1.4.2 had a problem. It wasn’t loading properly!
A quick search on twitter confirmed my suspicion that it wasn’t my code, but a problem loading jQuery from Google Code.
Did anyone else have this problem?
What does this mean in terms of Google Code being feasible on production environments? I’ve used it before without any qualms. One of the major benefits is users should already have the code cached. I couldn’t have imagined the hell it would have raised if one of my larger projects had the problem for even a few minutes.
In using Google we trust them, but should we?

I host my own jquery, it just feels safer. I know that it will be quicker using it from Google because most people have it cached, but I’ve always figured that the more DNS-lookup my site is, the worse.
